Traveling widens your horizon and it is also a part of art in life. Nature was created by God with art as we can see. In Malaysia, there are many species of flora and fauna that are wildlife in Tropical Rain Forest. Kuala Kubu Baru and Genting Highlands are some of the locations for habitat of flora and fauna including many species of birds.

Birds are God's creation is very unique and full of artistic value. There are many species of birds in the world from as small as a hummingbird to large as an ostrich. Usually birds can fly, but there are some species cannot fly. While there are birds that can swim fast such as penguin. The beauty of the creation of the birds we can see through the variety shape of head, eyes, beak, body, wings, legs and tail of bird for the different of their species. Its fur is different in terms of texture and color is amazing. Subhanallah...

Everyone have their own purpose and opinions about travel other than to see places, traveling also provides experience and valuable knowledge. Travel can also strengthen the relationship between the human mankind and man's relationship to nature, animals and the greatness of God.

Once again I had an opportunity to go to Kuala Kubu Bharu and this time for join program Wings of KKB 2014: Selangor Birds Race which also took place at Genting Highlands. The main objective of this program is to provide awareness to the community about the importance of preserving the environment so that the habitat will be protected and also can maintain artistic beauty of God's creation. Various events and competitions related to birds are organized for all ages, it is a brilliant idea to every stage of society to have more responsibility to keep the environment clean and care for wildlife.

This program gave me knowledge about bird species found in Malaysia, especially bird species in Kuala Kubu Baru and Genting Highlands Resort. I also get to know there are different bird species according to differences in elevation from sea level. Species of birds at Kuala Kubu Bharu which is Coppersmith Barbet (Takur Tukang Besi), Oriental Pied Hornbil (Enggang Kelingking) dan Red-wattled Lapwing (Burung Minta Duit). Whereas in Genting Highlands, there are many mountain species of birds such as Red-headed Trogon (Burung Kesumba Gunung). The involvement of local and foreigner professional birdwatchers such as from Birds Nature & Us Members (BNU), Sayap Surabaya Community and individuals from Sabah, Sarawak, Japan and some Middle East countries enliven the program. Through this program, the knowledge of the habits and diet of birds can learn a lot.

The program jointly organized by the Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS) and Resorts World Genting is also giving me the opportunity to stay for two days and one night at Awana Hotel Resorts World Genting for the first time. Comfort and fulfilling service makes me want to come and stay here again. If you would like to visit Genting Highlands, I recommend you to stay at Awana Hotel Resorts World Genting because other than give a comfort and good service, you can see a very beautiful scenery here.

In addition to the main program we call on to Pak Man Cendol n Makan stalls at Kuala Kubu Bharu on the way to Awana Resort World Genting. The second day we managed to visit the Happy Bee Farm and before returning to Kuala Lumpur we stopped at Genting Strawberry Leisure Farm.

Travel: Bird Watching at Kuala Kubu Bharu, Hulu Selangor Malaysia

Once again, I have had opportunity to join Sahabat Media program in conjunction to Visit Malaysia Year 2014 and this time we were invited by the Hulu Selangor District Council or Majlis Daerah Hulu Selangor (MDHS) for bird watching activity. Bird watching is an interesting and rare activity. What is bird watching?

Bird watching at Kuala Kubu Bharu is not the same as watching cage birds in a bird park. MDHS representative brought us for walk around the lake and the edge of the forest at Taman Millenium to locate observe and identify the species of birds found.

Kuala Kubu Bharu is a city garden and it was planned by the first Town Planner during the British era. According to MDHS Town Planning Officer, Madam Azlina Mokhtar, during that period of time, Kuala Kubu Bharu city was planted with valuable trees such as Mahogany and ‘Tembusu’. It is now, has become a suitable habitat for the animals including birds. There are many species of birds that live here and consisting of resident and migratory birds.

MDHS representative provided binoculars and guide books on bird species in Malaysia to facilitate us locating and identifying the species of birds found. Red-wattled Lapwing (Burung Minta Duit), Black Crested Bulbul (Merbah Jambul), Oriental Magpie Robin (Murai) and few other species we found here.

The use of standard lens (18-55 mm) limited the photography shooting on birds especially close up shot. This is a grace because it shifted my focus to capture the beauty of the scenery here. However to see a clearer and exciting picture of the bird, you can visit my friend’s blog: -
  1. dikbee mengecam burung
  2. silenceblogz meninjau burung

Our activities here have been going on for two days. This includes a special dinner at Restaurant Kalumpang Grill & Steamboat, Women's Day celebration Hulu Selangor District, bathing in river/ water fall, ride a 4 wheel drive and flying fox in Kalumpang Resort & Training Centre.

Thank you Hulu Selangor District Council (MDHS), Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia, Tourism Malaysia and M-Mode Berhad, for the invitation and giving me the opportunity and new experience.

Before I end my post this time, I would like to invite all to visit the Hulu Selangor district located about 68 kilometer from Kuala Lumpur, especially to Kuala Kubu Bharu and Kalumpang because it is one of the attractive tourist destinations in Malaysia.
